As I’ve progressed through life, which at times has been very difficult, I’ve found joy in learning and realization. I found that intentionally doing what is uncomfortable, but necessary, has taught me deep life lessons and allowed me to grow in ways I did not at first not think were possible. During my teenage years, I felt completely stuck with no end in sight and came close to ending my life. I did not realize the many opportunities I would have to heal and move beyond the limits I knew back then. I’ve journaled a lot over the years and have added the many realizations I’ve had into a focused plan which I how refer to for inspiration and to remind me what is most important. Perhaps you’ll find this process helpful too. Here is what my plan currently looks like:
DAILY FOCUS
Highest Life Values & Goals
- Inner Peace, healing and well-being.
- Continued optimization of bodily health and strength.
- To be a shining example of health and wellness.
- Live a life of integrity, love, and service to others.
- Continued personal and professional growth.
- Stable finances with strong investments, strong reserves, value based spending, and no debt.
- Lots of time with a loving partner who enjoys emotional and physical intimacy.
- Yearly travel and adventure
- Great team leader with excellence in service to clients
Inner Focus
- Be Gentle: Be gentle with John & his unique precious being inside – I am a unique expression of the universe – there is no one else like me and only I can give the unique gift of my being to others.
- Love my Inner Being: Remember that there is a being inside of me striving to thrive. My heart, lungs, organs and body are a working hard to keep me alive. Remember to be kind to my inner being and make loving choices.
- Practice Self-Acceptance: To deeply accept myself the way I am now – I am okay just as I am. There is no need to apologize for any part of me – people love me as I am.
- Self-Responsibility: To take responsibility for myself and my life.
- Care for my Inner Child: To take care of my inner child (my essence) in way that is most enlivening to him.
- Make each Choice with Love: Throughout the day ask, what is the most loving thing I can do in this moment?
- Think Objectivity: To look at each life situation I encounter objectively.
- Practice Gratitude: What am I grateful for?
Outer Focus
- Service to others: I have only a limited time here on earth and want to serve others in a way that really matters on a heart level. Ask the question: What is the most important thing for me to do right now. What matters most?
- Harmony & Cooperation: Working together we can love, trust, and heal each other while accomplishing beautiful things.
- Love & Support Rather than Defend: There is nothing good that comes from anger or defensiveness in the course of human interaction. It is healthy to be assertive about agreements and fairness, but loving and accepting others as they are is the best way I can love myself too.
Work Focus
- What is most important task to do right now…today (focus on high leverage activities)?
- The secret to getting anything done is to start it and do one thing at a time.
- Focus completely on one thing at a time, being in the moment without distracting myself.
- As I am working, visualize each step and speak each step to myself to stay on track.
- As I am completing the step, visualize in my mind’s eye how long the step should take me and make it my goal to complete it in that amount of time.
- Set time challenges for completion of each mini project and congratulate myself on finishing.
- Congratulate myself with each step completed – I am moving forward and creating!
- Continually set time completion goals for steps, tasks, and projects.
- Set Leadership Intentions: Focus on employee development, support, and appreciation.
